Jesse James Farm and Museum
Zerelda's Tragedy, January 25 - 26, 1875
On a snowy January night, Pinkerton detectives threw a bomb into the James-Samuel home, killing eight-year-old Archie Payton Samuel (half-brother to Frank, Jesse, and Susan James) and mangling Zerelda's right arm. Pictured left to right: Archie's headstone, remains of the bomb, Zerelda after the partial amputation of her right arm, and the James-Samuel farm house.
My daughter and I visited the James' farm a couple of years ago when we were in MO. for a Girl Scout zipline activity. Jen.
