Homeless Blanket Project #33 - Groovy Gert

Tired of hand sewing, I started this blanket on a whim to use up some of my bits and pieces of leftover yarn in a mindless manner.  I love the way the triple crochet/single crochet rows work up, I decided to crochet a set of variegated and then a set of solid.  While working on it I decided it was REALLY ugly, but once all lain out it doesn't insult my eye the way I thought it might!

Homeless Blanket Project #32 - Finicky Freddy

I know this looks like gray, but it's not.  I'm using three big skeins of medium sage worsted with two shorter strands of various, multi-colored yarns that have been tied between each green.  I'm using the same crocheting pattern of one row of triple crochets followed by one row of single crochets.

EE - Exuberant Ellsworth Afghan

This afghan, triple crocheted (with single crocheted rows between each triple) was used with the huge skein of dark charcoal that Heather got me at Christmas.  However, I also used in in another afghan, so I didn't have enough.  I tried finding more on the internet, but that color (sumac) is no longer being made and is out or stock everywhere.  Luckily, on a whim, I went into Marden's in August (8 month later!) and they had ONE skein left.  Can you believe that?  Meant to be or what?

I used bigger small balls of leftover yarn than for the green magic knot blanket.  This works up fast and fun, and I love the magic knot - so NO weaving in ends.  Hope the knots don't come out!

Finished blanket:
124 sts. in each row
54 sets of tc/sc in length
Finished 9/29/24

DD - Dazzling David - A Lost and Found Afghan

Finished 4/23/2024
Here's the second afghan I found that was almost finished!

I like the pattern I created, too:
     Cast on perhaps 160 sc
Row 1:  1 Triple Crochet in each, ch 1 turn
Row 2:  1 Single Crochet in each.   About 8 from the end, add in new color yarn to finish row.  This won't really show when the afghan is finished.  End with chain 3.

     Row 3: (Color # 2) 1 tc in each
Row 4:   1 sc in each
Do this twice, ending as above

Row 7-8-9-10-11-12 (new color)  repeat above for a total of three rows triple crochet, then start again.

Cacophonic Christine Afghan

Yes, Cacophonic is really a word, coming from my FAVORITE word:  CACOPHONY!
While I was making 10-round squares for Razzle Dazzle, I kept on making enough for a second afghan.  This is it!

10-found squares with no unifying border color.
Will probably have no outer border, either.

Bubbly Beatrice Afghan

8 rows base
Row 9:  SUMAC (Dk. Charcoal) Lion Brand Pound of Love
Row 10:  ???

Just started crocheting 8-rounds of yarn to finish up some small skeins, can do this so mindlessly!

Artsy Ann Afghan

Finished 4/2/2024
OMG, I've actually hit double letters!
Trying to update and complete projects, I discovered a number of afghans I started a year or two ago...almost finished them, then put them aside.
Two were of this triple crochet variety.
Triple crocheted rows with a row of single crochet between them, in sereis of 1 - 2 - 3 triple crochets.
The edges were really straight.
When I changed colors, I did it at the end of a single crochet row - added on new color for 2 stitches, then dropped old color to end.  Blended in really well and didn't even show.

Homeless Blanket Afghan #21 - The Ubiquitous Afghan

Heather gifted me 3-one pound skeins of the perfect yarn for borders.  Unfortunately for me, two of them were too dark for me to see well enough to sew together (I can easily crochet with them, just not sew them together.)  So I decided to put the navy as the next-to-last round.  Then I got whimsical and decided to do my final round with a mid-green.

5 rounds of color
1 round of navy
final round of green

3 squares = 22-23"
       7 or 8 x 10?
       Dolores was 7 rounds, finished 6 x 8
       Georgina was 7 rounds, finished 6 x 9
       Prince Harry was 7 rounds, finished 6 x 9
         UBIQUITOUS FINISHED IS 6 X 9

Finished sewing this togther on 2/20/2024

Homeless Blanket Project #20 - The Trenton Afghan

After making 3 large cat blankets for Cattail Farms using this method, I decided to use the rest of my scraps of yarn together with two huge dark brown skeins I'd gotten from Herrschners to make a twin-sized afghan.  I cut, tied, cut again, and rolled a lot of balls, then began the crocheting during my New Year's break at Brian's (in Trenton, Maine).

The Pragmatic Afghan

For this one I used 3-4 oz. skeins of variegated or striping yarn.  Never knew how they'd come out!
I got two blocks from some of the skeins, so they'll go into another afghan.

Borders are from one pound of BIG TWIST (from JoAnn's)  Lots and lots left over.

4 x 6 blocks
11 rounds with border

The Razzle-Dazzle Afghan

4 x 7 blocks
10 rows, no border

I love the way this one came out...so bright and colorful.  There's no unifying single crochet border around the outside edge, because as much as I love that look, I didn't want to introduce a skinny framing colors, so I'm leaving it like this.  I've actually been calling it my "unedged beauty."

The Odds and Ends Afghan

Early Fall 0f 2023
Using up odds and ends, trying to not purchase any more yarn (hardee har har)
11th/Border row done in White - Took less than 2 (7-oz.) skeins of Loops & Threads
4 x 6 = 24 blocks

The Novato Afghan

When I was at Dede's in July for two weeks, I spent a lot of time crocheting.  I finished the first project I started, then we headed to JoAnn's for a new set of yarn colors.  There were not many choices, the yarn selections were super picked over.  So I settled for combinations of grays, blues, and light browns.  Once I got home, I decided to edge them because I like the look of a final row of single crochet all around the outside border - makes it look complete and neat.
      10 rounds
11th round/border = Loops & Threads Soft classic (7 oz.) Mustard - took 2 skeins with plenty left over
(still sewing together today, will probably be 4 x 6 or 7 when finished)

The Madeline Afghan

This one was started at the Carlisle Expo Center when I started making 10-round granny afghan squares without the same colored outer edge.  Easy peasy, used up lots of leftover yarn and went quite quickly.

I took it to Fuller Lake and spread it out on a picnic table before I started sewing it together.  Not going to even put a single crochet border on it.

10 rounds
4 x 6
